Team Skiing Overview
The Virginia Water Ski Team represents Virginia at the Eastern Regional Water Ski Championships. The team is comprised of up to 5 men, 5 women, and 5 juniors across the Slalom, Trick and Jump events. The team can be made up of single eventers, 2 eventers, or overall skiers. A full team could be as little as 15 skiers (5 overall skiers in each group) or as big as 45 skiers (45 individual one eventers). The top two teams from each region qualify to go to Nationals.
Join the Team
The Virginia Water Ski Team is selected each year at the Virginia State Championship. If you want to be considered for the Virginia Water Ski Team contact the team captain, TG Powell. You don’t even need to be QUALIFIED for an event to compete on a team at Regionals, however you must be a USA Water Ski member. The team especially needs men and women jumpers.
The Virginia Water Ski Team finished a very close 3rd place at the 2018 Eastern Regional Water Ski Championships. Virginia was edged out of 2nd place and qualifying for Nationals by the narrowest of margins. Out of a total of over eleven thousand points, only 15 points separated Team Virgina from Team Connecticut. Virginia came in 1st in the Trick event! For Slalom Virginia was 3rd, but for jump Virginia came in 5th.
Virginia Water Ski Team History
The Virginia Water Ski Team was Champion for the Eastern Region in 2016 and got to represent the Eastern Region at the 2016 National Championships in Caldwell, Idaho.
